Aunty Daniella - Mini Dilly Bag - Blue
Daniella Chedzey (Aunty Daniella) is a proud Ngiyampaa Wangaaypuwan woman of the Pilaarrkiyalu Pilar tree Mayi, and also a registered traditional owner for Mount Grenfell.
Aunty Daniella has a strong connection with her culture, and this connection influences both her work and home life. She feels that being connected with her culture is an integral part of who she is, which inspires many aspects of what she offers as an Elder to her community.
This miniature dilly bag is made using up to 300m of string created from the bark of the kurrajong tree. They are intended to be worn close to the chest. The process to create kurrajong string takes up to three months and involves multiple steps using its bark. Once removed from the tree, the bark is soaked in water for 4 to 6 weeks, several times over.
