Barry Kantilla - Purukupali

Purukupali, hand carved and painted in the traditional Tiwi Island style by Barry Kantilla. Barry is a well-known visual artist from Bathurst Island, represented by a large volume of commercial galleries.

This work was created at Tiwi Design. Tiwi Design is a creative space, located at Nguiu on Bathurst Island. The Art Centre was established in 1969 to promote Tiwi art and culture. A large group of artists produce paintings, carvings, prints, ceramics, fibre art and screen-printed fabrics at this renowned creative space.
