Fossilised cluster of Ammonites. These animals lived during the Jurassic and Cretaceous periods of Earth's history at least 66 million years ago. Ammonites became extinct at the end of the Cretaceous Period at approximately the same time that dinosaurs vanished. This example of clustered specimens is from the jurassic period approx 150 million years ago, and was excavated near the town of Forchheim in present day Germany.
