Bird, hand carved and painted in the traditional Tiwi Island style by Mario Munkara. Mario Munkara is a well-known visual artist from Bathurst Island. Mario has had several museum and gallery exhibitions showcasing his highly sought after sculptures.
This work was created at Tiwi Design at Nguiu on Bathurst Island. The Art Centre was established in 1969 to promote Tiwi art and culture. A large group of artists produce paintings, carvings, prints, ceramics, fibre art and screen-printed fabrics.
