The group Trilobita existed from the early Cambrian period until the end of the Permian period (250 million years ago). The group is the most species-rich entirely extinct anthropod group.
This example of a well preserved, large, individual specimen sits on an ancient rock and is dated to the Middle Devonian period (382-392 million years ago). It was excavated in the Atlas Mountains in modern day Morocco.
