Ceremonial Boomerang Set

Hand-Carved Ceremonial Boomerang by Millmullian – Milan Dhiiyaan

This handcrafted ceremonial boomerang set is made by Wailwaan/Yuin songman and senior cultural educator Millmullian (Laurance Magick Dennis), using hand-selected timber gathered respectfully from Country. Shaped and finished with care, each boomerang reflects deep cultural knowledge and connection to land.

Unlike returning boomerangs, which are skillfully designed to arc back to the thrower and traditionally used for hunting and sport, ceremonial boomerangs are not made to return. They are created for use in song, dance, and storytelling, carrying cultural meaning, spirit, and tradition. Their shape and form vary depending on their purpose within ceremony and lore.

This boomerang is part of the work of Milan Dhiiyaan, which means “One Family or One Mob”. Milan Dhiiyaan offers Aboriginal cultural immersion experiences for both Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal people, across Australia and globally. It reflects the philosophy that all people are connected—part of one human family living together on Mother Earth.

Milan Dhiiyaan is led by Nyimirr (Fleur Magick Dennis), a Wiradjuri/Wailwaan songwoman and senior cultural educator, and Millmullian (Laurance Magick Dennis), a Wailwaan/Yuin songman and senior cultural educator.
