FrogID Cap
Cotton cap. One size fits most.
Australia is home to more than 240 known frog species, almost all of which are found nowhere else in the world. While some species are flourishing, others have declined in numbers dramatically since the 1980s, and at least four have become extinct.
All around the country, people are recording frog calls with nothing more than their phones. Download the app today, available on both iOS and Android. For more information, visit frogid.net.au.
FrogID is an Australian Museum citizen science project aimed at collecting audio of frog calls across the nation - at a moment in time - to monitor frog populations and help save Australia’s threatened frog species. Using mobile phone technology and “audio DNA” FrogID aims to discover where frogs are at risk and how to conserve them and our waterways.
The free FrogID app, developed in partnership with IBM, identifies frog species by the sounds they make – from croaks and chirps, to whistles and barks. Recording and uploading these calls will map frog species across Australia and reveal where they are at risk from habitat loss, disease, climate change and urbanisation. You might even discover a new frog species!
