Maireener, Kelp, and Black Crow Shell Necklace
An exquisite Maireener and Kelp shell necklace, punctuated with rich Black Crow shells hand crafted by Palawa artist, Jeanette James
These beautiful shells have been collected and prepared for jewellery making by Palawa women of Lutrawita (Tasmania) for generations.
Maireener shells are tiny, cone-shaped sea snail shells with a pointed apex. In the wild they appear brown or greenish with darker striations and a light apex. They polish into lustrous iridescent rainbow colours including yellows, pinks and olive green.
Shell necklaces feature in the collections of many Museums across the globe. This is your chance to own one of these magnificent and significant Jeanette James pieces.
