Kyanite Harts Ranges NT

$115.00

A group of 3 excellent specimens of Kyanite, found in the mineral-rich Harts Range of the Northern Territory.

Its name comes from 'Cyan' blue. A beautiful translucent mineral, as a raw material, it is used in the manufacture of ceramics and is an important index mineral used by geologists to trace metamorphic zones - a mineral-rich zone of bedrock.

Kyanite, an aluminium silicate mineral (Al2SiO5), is commonly seen in various shades of blue, ranging from pale to deep hues. Additionally, it can appear in grey, white, or occasionally light green. In these specimens, the common sprays of bladed crystals are visible. Valued for its perfect cleavage planes and distinct pearly lustre, this group of small elegant specimens are an excellent addition to any minerals collection.

Size: each specimen is approximately 65x10x10mm

Weight of the grouping: 78g
