Desert Dog Ornaments | Handpainted Warlukurlangu Art
The perfect gift for the dog lovers in your life, these vibrant hand painted Desert Dog ornaments, created by artists from the Warlukurlangu Artists Aboriginal Corporation in Yuendumu, Central Australia.
In Warlpiri culture, dogs, known as ‘Jarntu’ or ‘Maliki’, are beloved companions, protectors, and hunters. Families in Yuendumu often have many dogs, who are valued as ‘Warlalja’ (family) and provide comfort, protection and company.
Each ornament is hand painted in acrylic on lightweight balsa wood, featuring bold colours and designs inspired by the desert landscape and Warlpiri culture. Every dog is unique, reflecting the individuality of artist and subject.
The Warlukurlangu Artists Cooperative is one of Australia’s leading Aboriginal art centres, supporting Warlpiri and regional artists to share their stories, culture, and creativity through painting and craft.
These joyful Desert Dog ornaments make unique gifts, collectables, or keepsake.
