The Fodara headpiece is traditionally worn on special occasions, such as weddings. The piece combines beads of farawasi (white shells), safi (orange shells) and kurila (black shells).

The Australian Museum Shop is pleased to be selling a range of traditional arts on behalf of the East Kwaio community, who reside on the island of Malaita in the Solomon Islands. These objects were made by master craftsmen and women at the Kwainaa'isi Kwaio Cultural Centre on the island, and represent the traditional style of work specific to their community.
