Several artists contributed to this multi-volume illustrated encyclopaedia on the history of fish, published in the late 1700s by Marcus Elieser Bloch, a German ichthyologist and physician. The definitive study of fish at the time of its publication, the title is still recognized as one of the greatest ichthyology books ever produced.
