Ampitji: Artwork by Jane Margaret Tipuamantumirri. The painting tells the story of the Rainbow Serpent, a dreaming common to many Aboriginal cultures. Each region has its own part of the story to tell. This artwork also tells of artist's dance to this story.
Jilamara: Artwork by Josette Papajua, depicts Tiwi Islands ceremonies, whose "Yoi" dances are accompanied by totemic and new songs. Participants are painted with ochres, creating protective Jilamara designs.
Kalimpinpa: Artwork by Damien and Nyinkalya Marks depicting the Sand hills, Rocky Outcrops and Rockhole's around artist Damien Marks' home country. Running through the middle of this painting is a dry riverbed. Kalimpinpa is a sacred, large rockhole that is very deep and runs under the ground. The men will form a line down into the rockhole and pass buckets of water back along the line. The land around it is shown in a very abstract style.
Kuntjanu Wanampi: Kuntjanu is near Pipalyatjara in the far north west corner of the APY Lands. It is here, in Kuntjanu, that the Wanampi lives. Wanampi is the big rainbow serpent who sleeps under the ground in the tjukula (rockhole). This painting depicts the rockhole where Kuntjanu, an old tjilpi (old man) serpent hides under water.
Malikijarra Jukurrpa (two dogs dreaming): Artwork by Murdie Nampijinpa Morris depicting the story of two dog ancestors who travelled west to east, digging warnirri (water holes) and ngapa (rock holes) as they travelled.
Migration: Artwork by Bianca Dodd in earth tones and blues, depicting ancestral migration patterns that shaped Aboriginal culture, harmonizing with landmarks, seasons, and nature.
Ngalyipi: Mina Mina, a place far west of Yuendumu, significant to Napangardi and Napanangka women, who are the custodians of the Dreaming that created the area. It describes the journey of a group of women of all ages who travelled east gathering food.
Ngarrindjeri Country: Artwork by Cedric Varco, depicting Ngurunderi's journey down the Murray River in search of his wives and creating landscapes, rain, and life in Ngarrindjeri Country
Pikilyi Jukurrpa: Artwork by Theo (Faye) Hudson. Pikilyi is an important natural spring and water-hole at Mt Doreen Station, Nt. Pikilyi is the home of 2 rainbow serpents, the wife a Napananka skin group and the husband, a Japangarda, a taboo relationship in the Walpri culture. The serpents are the 'Kirda' traditional owners of that country.
Purda Manu: Artwork by Paddy Stewart, shows the Yam and Bush Tomato Dreamings. You can see the Yams and the small round berries of the Bush Tomatoes. The place associated with this Dreaming is west of Yuendumu. In the Dreamtime the people used to eat these fruits and vegetables, just as our old people lived off them. "What I have painted here is the Dreamtime Yams and Bush Tomatoes. I painted them here for the children to see."
Sandhills: Artwork by Damien and Nyinkalya Marks depicting the sandhills of Damien's country, Mount Liebig, towards Papunya. When you see the hills from a distance, the wind blows through the sand, making the hills move and change form. The wind makes ripples, undulations and ridges in the sand in the same shapes and patterns that can be seen in this painting. These sandhills are a common sight around Papunya. In between the sandhills are dry claypans and rockholes.
