Mookaite Jasper Specimen | West Australian Cretaceous Fossil Mineral

$189.99

This polished mookaite jasper specimen from Western Australia is a museum quality mineral prized by collectors for its vivid colour variation and natural banding.

Found exclusively in the Windalia Radiolarite region of Western Australia, mookaite is a silicified porcellanite (microcrystalline quartz/jasper), one of Australia's most distinctive mineral specimens.

Formed from ancient marine sediments 145–66 million years ago, many specimens are fossiliferous, containing microscopic Cretaceous fossils such as Radiolaria and Foraminifera.

The polished surface shows swirling patterns in reds, yellows, browns, beige, grey, and occasional purple tone.

With a Mohs hardness of 6.5–7, this durable quartz-based mineral is ideal for display and collection. Perfect for mineral specimens for collectors seeking authentic Australian minerals for sale with genuine geological provenance and natural history significance.
