Curious about the Sulphur Crested Cockatoo (Cacatua galerita)?
At 44-55cm long, this is a relatively large white cockatoo, found in wooded habitats in Australia, New Guinea and some Indonesian islands.
In Australia, they are common in the suburban habitats of Adelaide, Melbourne, Canberra, Sydney and Brisbane and their range extends through the wooded areas from the Kimberley to Tasmania.
With black bill, grey legs, a white eye-ring, white plumage and yellow-tinged underwing and tail, its their expressive yellow crest that gives them their common name.
